ANNUAL REPORT 2019-20

  

Wisdom Comes not from age, but from education and learning. Formal Education will make you living; self- education will make you a fortune. St. Norbert School aims at self-education, to enable the children build their future and fortune.


St. Norbert School is located amidst nature’s beauty at T. Narasipura, Mysore district, Karnataka, with an aim to transform the young minds in the field of education and mould them to be the better citizens. The school is surrounded with trees and plants giving a soothing and refreshing mind for the students to study.


The School belongs to Norbertine fathers of Manathavadi, Kerala. St. Norbert School started in 2015. It is the fifth year now and we have 40 teachers and 30 non-teaching staff. Central board of education is followed here. 


Infrastructure:-

The school is established in a sigle plot of land comprising KGs  to 8thStd. Class rooms are spacious with fan and light facility. Each class room is enabled with Smart class to enrich their academic development. Speakers are a part of student assembly. School has adopted special software, through which parents get the message at the tip of their finger related to academics, holidays, programs and various events held in school. Teachers also send homework and attendance every day through this App.

We have purified water in the school for drinking. We have 14 buses to various places for students with aunty for the safety of students. The school runs with Solar enabled energy form current academic year.  


Academics:

St. Norbert has adopted latest pedagogy patterns to make the teaching and learning experience more interesting. 


We believe in holistic development of the students, therefore Along with the main subjects, we train students in Yoga, karate, music, dance, drawing, craft, game and library. Club Time is part of Time Table where club activities are conducted for the students on weekly basis.  


The school conducts talent hunts at the beginning of the year to recognize their talents and abilities in different areas and to promote them. Each core subject has Club which conducts various activities throughout the year. Apart from the club activities the students participate in all the celebrations such as Diwali, Ramjan, Christmas, School Feast day etc. with various dance, drama, skit, mimicry and so on. Prathiba karanji programme is an enter school competition which is held every year. This year also our students won many prizes for the school. Home Day is celebrated every year through which students recognise their talents to be a dancer, orator, organiser and so on. 


They also participated in Olympiad and this year they got many accolades for the school. We got the latest inspire award for 2 students from our school. 

Special students are given preference in methods of education based on their abilities. Remedial class is provided for them. A meeting was held on 11th Jan 2020 to educate these parents to recognise their ward’s giftedness in other areas. 


Training Programs

Teachers are given periodic training to enhance their knowledge and adapt teaching and learning process according to the need of the time. As the Staffs is an asset for the organisation. We have had 12 training Sessions for teachers throughout the year. Teaching and non-teaching staff meetings are conducted regularly and monitored by the management to cater to the needs of the students.


Discipline:-Discipline in the school is maintained at various levels. Discipline coordinator is responsible for the discipline. Along with the teachers in charge of discipline, the student governing Body is responsible for it. Each class has got a class leader. Records are maintained by students under the supervision of these teachers and given valuable suggestions to improve the overall personality of the students. Students are divided into groups in houses-red, blue, green and yellow, wherein they participate in all the activities of the school and learn team work. 


Sports: - Physical fitness and mental ability are a part of physical education. Along with track and field events, kabbadi, kho-kho, throw ball, basketball, football, discus throw, shot put, volley ball, karate, skipping and hoops, lezim activities are given to students regularly. Yoga and mass PT develop a sense of oneness among students and a sense of relief to the physique and improves the mental ability. 


Student Welfare: - This committee helps to solve the student’s academic, social and psychological problems. It helps in developing student’s interactive and communication skills. They are given preference to choose and organise their activities of interest. Some of the students are given concession in fees, provided with uniform and books etc  when they are from economically backward families.  Regular counselling is provided for the students. Parents are invited to the counselling sessions as the need arises. Visiting student’s home and remedial classes are the important features of Student welfare committee. 


Safety Measures: - CC camera is an important factor through which the whereabouts of the students and their discipline is taken care of. Parents are restricted to pick students during school hours. Relatives are not allowed to meet students. Road safety measures are informed to students. Fire extinguishers are working in good condition. Suraksha Samithi works for the safety of students. Students are given periodic classes on self-awareness and self-protection. Girl students are encouraged to learn Karate for self-protection.


Innovative Practices

Innovative Practices are the backbone of a School. Beyond the academical practices, some Innovative practices are inevitable for the physical and mental development of the students. St. Norbert is using creative teaching method like - Audio- visual tools, classes outside the classroom, role-play, storytelling, team work - Assignments and Projects, Using Working Models, Education Tour etc. Every class gets to conduct Morning Assembly in turn where they showcase their creativity and ability. Notice Board is arranged on weekly basis. Keeping the class neat and clean is part of discipline for which each class gets marks. We also conduct Green Day every year wherein students come with a sapling to plant. On this day various competitions are conducted on the theme ‘Save Environment’. 


PTA

PTA Executive Committee actively partakes in the Decision making Process. Many Meetings and Awareness programs were conducted for the parents in this academic year. Fun Fair conducted on 23rd Dec was an occasion to build their relationship with each other.

This Academic year 2019-2020 witnessed rise in the strength of students. We have 1017 students in the school from Kinder Garten to 8 Std . We have better plan for the next Academic year and we hope to achieve it with God’s grace.
